PFLAG is a storied, national organization founded in 1973. PFLAG is the first and largest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people, their parents and families, and allies. Now there is a chapter here to serve the Virginia Peninsula.
PFLAG Williamsburg, serving the Virginia Peninsula, including Gloucester, Hampton, James City County, Newport, News, Williamsburg, and New Kent, received its formal charter in late 2020 from PFLAG National. The organization is designed to provide support group meetings to individuals who identify as members of the LGBTQ+ communities, their families and friends, and allies. The mission of the national organization is to build on a foundation of loving families united with LGBTQ people and allies who support one another, and to educate ourselves and our communities to speak up as advocates until all hearts and minds respect, value and affirm LGBTQ people. Meetings of the local chapter are held the first Monday of each month and reservations for the meeting can be made by emailing pflagwilliamsburg@gmail.com.
First Monday Virtual Support Group Meetings are open to everyone. This group may include parents and allies of LGBTQIA+ folks as well as folks who are LGBTQIA+ of various ages. It is important to note that PFLAG is an adult support organization.
Meetings are from 7p-8:30p.
