About Love Is Love Tidewater

Our History

Love Is Love Tidewater was founded in 2005 by a group of mental health professionals who saw a need for more accessible mental health resources in our community. Love is Love is committed to increased visibility and safe spaces for LGBTQ+ persons of all ages in the Tidewater Region. We formed our organization to provide creative solutions and foster into existence local chapters of national organizations . We have been growing and, with your help, we will continue to grow for this amazing community!

Our Team

Our team was founded by licensed therapists, social workers, and other mental health professionals. Our organization is run by volunteers who are passionate about supporting mental health and wellness in our community.

Our Partnership

Love Is Love Tidewater works in partnership with Nationz Foundation located in Richmond, Virginia. Nationz Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and was organized to fulfill their mission to "provide education and information related to HIV prevention and overall health and wellness, while inspiring the community to take responsibility for their health while working towards a more inclusive Central Virginia for LGBTQIA+ identified individuals.

Our Programs

Our Partnership

PFLAG Williamsburg, serving the Virginia Peninsula, was chartered in late 2020 by PFLAG National. The organization provides support meetings for LGBTQ+ individuals, families, friends, and allies. Its mission is to unite loving families, educate communities, and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. Local meetings are held monthly on the first Monday.
